A restaurant with purpose - supporting local disadvantaged workers and surrounding community. Probably one of the best pork chops I've had and the slaw dressed salad was excellent. Bill comes with 19% equity charge and tipping on top is optional. Dining area in a warehouse setting but very open and accommodating. Mole BBQ on wings and tacos were excellent. Small parking lot but parking available on street too.

The hippest place for brunch in town and then some.
Excellent vegan options. Super tasty regular options. The most flavor and strong coffee to be found in Hartford.

It's challenging with food reviews, because we all love such a variety of flavors, textures, seasonings, temperatures and specific dishes. One person's "THIS IS THE GREATEST PIZZA I'VE EVER HAD!" could be another person's "Meh," leaving the first reviewer scratching their head. Add to that someone's opinion of what "timely service" should be, value, attentiveness (vs. intrusiveness) and atmosphere and you have a spectrum that can stretch from here to Jupiter, seemingly. Myself, as much as I love a plethora of foods (yes I said plethora), when it comes to reviewing (especially a newer place) I like to use 5 simple parameters:
1. Do I love the vibe when I walk in?
2. Did the staff treat me warmly, and were they adequately attentive?
3. Was the food awesome? (Right temperature, well plated, yummy, etc)
4. Is the style/atmosphere cool?
5. Did the server (or service staff if shared) vanish near the end of the meal for seemingly 49 minutes when I am trying to pay the bill?
That's it, and although that last one sounds silly, it happens to my wife and I at least 75% of the time. Seriously. We can't figure it out, but assume it has something to do with a secret cabal of service staff who gather together and wager how long they can make patrons wait before they erupt into cartoonish anger. I have yet to do that, and won't, but hopefully the check starts coming quicker at some of these places.
Anyway, there was no such issue at Fire by Forge. In fact, all 5 of the items on my list were absolute bangers. Honestly. From the moment we walked in, we loved the place. It's an inviting, rustic, energetic (but not crazy loud) bar/entry area, and the decor is simple but pleasing to the eye, and the staff were very friendly and engaging. The food, I mean COME ON...it looked incredible going out to other tables, but my wife hasn't stopped raving about the Salmon, and the Big Mac-y smash burger was killer. Truly a gourmet version of that all time classic. The atmosphere and decor are a

OMG what a gastronomical experience and it was worth the 19% equity surcharge to support an organization doing good on the community and providing for their people! We’ve driven by the restaurant for three years and I’m so glad we finally stopped.
My husband and I dropped our son off at college and wanted some fill your belly yumminess before heading north! My husband had pour over coffee and I had a decaf latte then we enjoyed a super decadent banana-chocolate French toast and the best breakfast tacos ever. My husband reported that the FT was delish and very sweet. My tacos were filled with softly scrambled eggs, a pico-type salsa with a little kick, pickled onions and the roasted tortillas tasted homemade. I added turkey sausage that was perfect in the tacos.
I was drawn to the mission of the organization, framed photos of workers, and the waitress who confidentially shared more about the mission. Local and doing good for the community along with excellent food and a pleasant interior made our experience wonderful. Cannot wait to come back for dinner with our son!
Since it was Sunday the grocery store wasn’t open. We asked if could purchase a bottle of Up and Down Rock Bourbon and they accommodated us. Very cool label! We don’t know yet from our son how it tastes!

My wife & I came here for a date night and the experience was fantastic. The location is very bespoke, inside the old mill building. Staff is friendly, courteous, and we enjoyed hearing about the good that they do for the community. We loved the biscuits, mac & cheese, the steak, and the strawberry shortcake! Our drinks were also works of art themselves! Highly recommend coming here!

Fire by Forge catered our wedding reception for 80 people some weeks ago at the Farm at Carter Hill. From beginning to end, everyone we dealt with there was personable, efficient, accommodating, and very professional. They offered a large selection, including vegan and gluten free options to accommodate all of our friends. We chose the Pork Tenderloin, Salmon, and Vegetable Ravioli dishes and received many rave reviews from our friends for each. They even provided both chocolate chip cookies and gluten free brownies. We chose square disposable wooden plates for our even –an eco option that was well received by our guests. At the reception, they set up in the very limited space we had for them, with no drama. They also set up the tables with a variety of delicious fresh bread, butter crocks, glass salt and pepper shakers, water carafes, and glasses. At the last minute, right before serving, we needed to add another table –they worked with the Farm to make it happen immediately and quietly. Their take down and clean up was quick and flawless. Really, we can’t say enough good about these guys. See the photos.

This spot has been on my list for a while, and I finally had the chance to stop by — totally worth the wait! From start to finish, everything was phenomenal and exceeded my expectations.
I came in for a quick lunch break that I honestly didn’t want to end. The dry rub (highly recommended by our wonderful server, Dayanara) was a perfect 10/10 — full of flavor and cooked to perfection. The truffle mayo deserves its own fan club, and the passionfruit mimosa? Absolutely the highlight of my day — refreshing, balanced, and just the right touch of sweetness.
The atmosphere was welcoming, the service attentive, and the food outstanding. I’m already planning a Part 2 visit because there’s no way I’m stopping at just one experience here!

Went here for brunch before the UConn game and it was so good. Found 3 spots at the bar and were waited on quickly. I got the arepas which were awesome, kind of like a fancy McGriddle and it came with their chips which were also great. The cinnamon roll was excellent as well. Highly recommend.
